They already thought of that. The best thing to come out of France since the Statue of Liberty is the 50 DTC cartridge. It was developed by a Frenchman who wanted to get around the ban on the 50 BMG in his country. He took the 50 BMG, trimmed it down an 1/8th of an inch and fire formed it in the DTC chamber. The end result is a shorter slightly fatter case at the shoulder. The 50 DTC and 50 BMG are incompatible with each other after the brass is properly formed.

This nice guy made his drawings and reamers available to several American manufacturers. Take a look on Wikipedia for more info. There was a bill to outlaw 50 bmg rifles and anything based on the cartridge in Illinois, it did not pass. It was suggested by some that the 50 DTC be instead called the 50 Girly-man to mock that b-itch Arnold for signing AB50 into law in CA. They stuck with 510 DTC and 50 DTC instead.
