I am thinking of getting a new take down rifle for my go bag. I haven't researched any specific as yet but looking for suggestions from those that are in the know. I'd prefer one that could have a suppressor added but that's not a deal breaker. What might you recommend and why?

AR pistol or SBR with a suppressor, they take down a little slower than a 'true' take down rifle but they go back together very quickly which is the important part

ETA : Missed the WA part :(

Look at the Ruger 10/22 take down rifle. You are limited to 10 rounds for the magazines but it is legal to own in Washington State still. I own a non-takedown 10/22 that I bought a back in 2025 when the law was already in effect.

This. Or I believe Ruger has/had a 9mm PC carbine takedown without a threaded barrel.

Why get a takedown when you can get a gun wirh a folding stock and no buffer. 1 second to flip out the stock and you are ready to go. Can also shoot if folded if needed. 5.56 or 330 BLk examples.

10.5" can also get 14.5 or 16"

8.5"

12"
Also jakl, bren II and many others have no buffer

.308 12.5"

Ruger PCC takedown is a good option. Caliber is widely available, shares mags with a sidearm, light and handy to carry, non-threader option available for WA buyers. If the idea is to keep it in the bag and haul it around, that would be my vote. Another option if you want 5.56 would be a KelTec SU16 (not exactly takedown, but folds in half). Pretty sure the A model is still WA legal.

Those are likely a no go because of the 'pistols with magazines outside the grip' part

Because, Warshington.
Ah didn't catch that thx. For Wa only options for semi auto are existing legal such as mini 14 with folding stock (check if folding stock is legal) hk sl6, sl7 (have to
Modify the stock) and ?. If you don't need a rifle buy a Glock 22 or 24, or 35? Then buy 357 sig threaded barrel and b&t USW chassis. Or do the same but with 10mm glock. Probably other options too like @trukinbear did for CA. Can always do bolt or lever guns too I suppose and then customize it. I modified my wood stock bolt action rifle to a folding wood stock rifle as an example. Bullpup chassis conversion may be an option too. Just depends how short you want it. If it were me I would get a good pistol and modify it with USW chassis or a universal brace. Tiny and light package either way and many of the benefits of a rifle.

.357 sig ball ammo =640 ft pounds energy. 8.5" 5.56/2.23 = 700 fpe.

Shoulder stabilized, non moving red dot. Can take suppressor.

Or get any medium to full sized pistol and add a universal brace for $80. You can replace the brace with any other pistol tube sized brace if desired.

I went a different way. Pre-WW2 H&R .44/.410 break open Garden Gun. John Taylor rechambered the .44 smoothbore barrel to 3" .410 and made a 16-1/2" 9mm barrel from a Green Mountain "gunsmith special" blank. 34 inches overall. Weighs only 4 pounds. Disassembles to stow in survival ruck with both barrels.

The 9mm barrel has M1 Carbine rear sight and M14 front sight. Is threaded for can. Better game foraging outfit than a .22 LR. Not a combat gun. I carry a Beretta 92FS and a bunch of mags for that.
