Strange Washington Purchase Question

Here is an odd question - I just ordered a firearm from GP Arms and after putting my deposit down, I have a receipt with a serial number. Not knowing how long it will take for my piece to be manufactured, can I go to my local FFL with the receipt/serial number and start the process? I figure that if I can do this, it will help with the 10 day waiting period.

While doing so may make sense...or even be helpful...
I would guess not.

What you have in reality is a serial number on a piece of paper...with no way to confirm on the actual firearm.
Also I think the 10 day waiting period starts after the purchase / BGC and such.

With that said...
Let it be understood that I am not a fan of our 10 day waiting period or any other of the other dumb azz Washington firearm bans , restrictions or the like.

Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, a licensed dealer may not deliver any firearm to a purchaser or transferee until:

(1) The results of all required background checks are known and the purchaser or transferee (a) is not prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm under federal or state law and (b) does not have a voluntary waiver of firearm rights currently in effect; and

(2) Ten business days have elapsed from the date the licensed dealer requested the background check.

As far as your FFL is concerned, if he does not have it in hand, it does not exist.

When I ordered my Ruger Vaquero revolver, I did the initial paperwork, but without a serial number, the background böölsheet cannot start, so the 10 days doesn't start sooner unfortunately. My FFL called me to let me know the gun came in last Thursday and gave me a pick up date.

I do have a serial number on the receipt which is why I asked. But as people have said, I will just have to wait.....and then wait some more

NO does not work that way. Both the fire arm and person have to be present when filling out the paperwork then the 10 business days starts counting.
