$60 is on the high side for transfer fees. Although having a great customer experience and factoring the time/gas to drive somewhere else for cheaper, you definitely came out ahead. Glad it all worked out and you came back to update this thread. :)

Final follow up... They were AWESOME! Advance Firearms and Training was the shop.

The package ended up coming in a day early, so I was never able to get over there before it arrived. I did send a "contact us" message on their website and their response was "You never need to contact us before, we get packages in all the time for people. We will give you a call when it gets in."

Went in and gave them my name and license, told her what I was there for, and she brought it out to me. Went through the package to make sure it was all there and completed the transfer process on a tablet. Paid, what I would consider with 0 experience to be a very reasonable fee of $60. I don't know where their total fee lands in the world of FFL transfers but driving a gas ram 2500 across town to a potentially cheaper transfer would likely negate most/all savings if an FFL was going to make any money on it. No complaints here. Did the fingerprints and background check stuff. Cleared. Then I walked out with the new goodies!

Thanks for the input. I appreciate your time and experience on the matter.
Congrats! Mind sharing what you picked up? ( Just curious, no worries if not). In my limited price shopping, you likely would've only saved yourself $20 or so but maybe i don't know better. Either way, enjoy!

I didn't know fingerprinting was required for a BGC in OR. That alone would add an additional $10 to the cost.
Not really. If one is to buy a gun from the shop itself rather than having it transferred from elsewhere, the standard BGC is fee is still $10, including the thumbprints.

My situation is similar but different [I'm in CA] Im very careful of the FFL's I pick after a near disaster.
I ordered a gun and used the dealers preferred FFL. It was in the next town about 40 miles from me. it was in a downtown address. I called and made an appointment to meet at the FFL and do the paperwork.
The FFL was in the worst part of downtown. I was literally stepping over homeless wino's to get to his door. The FFL couldn't get the basic paperwork correct after re entering the guns info 3 times I finally did it for him. While I was entering the info the guy asked what I did for a living, and I told him I was retired from the local jail.
The FFL holder starts telling me about his time in jail, having joined a gang while in there, and how the Sherrif had Blackballed his FFL renewal and forced him to move his business downtown to a City address because the city did not know of his Gang affiliation!
If that wasn't bad enough when I went back to pick up the gun [ after CA's 10 day wait] the FFL ghosted me for a week. I get a call from him saying the only day I can pick up the gun would be at 7 pm the day before Christmas eve.
I make the 40 mile trip into deepest darkest downtown, brave the homeless that are now pitching their tents for the night, and the guy is a no show. I wait about 15 min and call him, no answer. I give him another 15 and another call, still no answer. So I'm heading back home and as I'm getting on the freeway to head home I get a call telling me he is there. All he has to do is print a receipt and turn the gun over to me. But when I get there, he can't get the printer to work, and then He can't get his safe open. It was 10 PM before I was headed out.
I have never again used an FFL without checking them out first. DR

I picked up a Springfield Echelon with a viridian RFX11 green dot, 3 17round mags, 2 20 round mags and a Springfield range bag. I paid 550 for the package and 100 in shipping and FFL costs. I ended up about 50 dollars below the MSRP... Not a spectacular deal, but I was proud of talking myself out of the more expensive options I was interested in hahaha. Anyway, excited to get out with it this weekend! First optic I have ever used.

Three days after it was delivered, i called and they said i could come right in, no email i guess.
This didn't have to do with an in-bound transfer. But similar. When I bought an in-store gun from Sportsman's Warehouse lately, I asked, "Do you call when it's ready to pick up?" The clerk said, "Calls are a courtesy that we don't always have time to extend." He waved a big stack of paperwork at me and said, "These are all waiting for our phone call." He instructed me to just come in the first day it was authorized to release. Come in early, come in on a weekday.

I'm beginning to understand why Sportsman's Warehouse takes so long to sell guns. Why the line can be long and slow. In my experience, I rarely see anyone buying other stuff in the store. The clothing and shoe areas are ghost towns. Once in a while, I see someone buying fishing stuff. And I've gotten stuck behind people buying fishing licenses at the checkout register. The area that used to be designated for "customer service" was vacant for a long time, now that's where they keep some of the knives for sale, behind a counter, so they aren't apt to get stolen. With no one in attendance, of course. That function is probably an additional duty for the single register clerk.

So I'm thinking, the gun dept. is carrying the store; but with overall underperforming sales, they have to cut staff to save money. Including in the one performing area of the enterprise.

I won't be surprised if this store closes in the near future. Hopefully, that won't be within the next couple of weeks so I can pick up my new pistol.
