Part of this is the price we pay for living in an open society. Chinese nationals can come to the US and get jobs with defense contractors. Then milk these employers for government secrets. We sure as Heck can't go to China and get jobs like this.

Once spies are being investigated, the government has to be careful of jeopardizing cases involving Chinese suspects for reasons of potential race discrimination.
