I installed a Springco RMS in my Rock island 1911 9mm, not so much to reduce recoil, but to decrease time on target speed in target shooting
now, some old hard liners will say it's just a gimmick - and I will disagree
when I first got the 9mm 1911, I fired a range of ammo from 115gn Winchester white box to Cor Bon 124 gn
the Cor Bon kicked like a .45 in the 1911 frame
today I fired:
Winchester white box 115
Nato 124
Cor Bon 124
Buffalo Bore 124 +P+
Winchester white box 147 gn

I was shooting 6" swinging steel disk at 10 yrds

color me impressed
I am running a 12 lbs recoil spring and an 18 lbs main spring in this Rock Island 1911 A1 FS 9mm
I cold not perceive a difference in recoil, accuracy or time on target between any of the ammo
I was especially impressed with the recoil of the Buffalo Bore
before the upgrade, I was running a 15# mainspring for this ammo
I was able to drop from a 15 to a 12 with no precievable increase in recoil or time on target
