Well that might happen, but neither myself nor my son's house are on the grid, plus I've got a set price from the EV charging network which is a public project, and claims to be 100% solar. I just drove from Brookings to where I charged at Sutherland 176 miles on mostly 2 lane twisty mountain road and my recharge was $11.98, so I'll still smile and wave if the price somehow doubles. I think gas will hit $10

Filled up my car, $5.89 a gallon here. Granted it was premium for my Jaguar, but JFC this state sucks. They obviously don't like gas and diesel vehicles, even before the recent price hikes.They tax the s**t out of EVs too here in WA.

Traveling today and saw this (see photo below). It's my first trip by myself, maybe I hadn't noticed.Quite frightening! I'm glad my son gave my car back to me, but feel kinda guilty for not dieing on schedule. The higher gas gets, the happier I am to drive an EV.

Memories are amazingly short. Just a few years ago it was over $7 in CA back when they had the highest gas taxes. WA is now trying to tell CA hold my beer and watch this. Again people keep asking for more and more they will get. Next door in ID average is $3.79, $4.04, $4.33, $4.92. People do get exactly what they ask for.

Tax wealth.
Tax income.
Tax consumer goods at point of sale.

I've always been an early adopter, and after seeing the Chevy Electrovair at a car show I was hooked. I tinkered with evs of the '70s such as they were. When hybrids became retail, I had a string of Mercury, and Toyota hybrids. Went EV in '14 and the brain(s), batteries, and 178hp motor of my BMW i3 live on in the electric conversion of my boat. Before I sold my house my rooftop solar charged my cars, and powered my house. Most of that system transferred to my cabin, and while technically still capable of charging my car it's nowhere near where I need to be. Until then it's the West Coast Electric Highway

Price war at the intersection of 98 and I think 441 in the pre interstate days of Florida - early 1960's - 4 stations, one on each corner. Dad sat there for an hour, I really don't know why, I think he was just cheap. We watched the price come down in real time as each station owner responded to the other's price drop. I think Dad was just mesmerized by it all. Anyway that's the price that sticks in my mind most other than 11¢ diesel in a harbor in Mexico.

I just filled up yesterday. $4.89 a gallon for premium. 20 cents less if I would have used regular.

When I was in high school, I worked part time at a Shell station. Premium was .32 cents per gallon. I don't remember what minimum wage was, but 2 years later I was working at a Pontiac dealer and minimum wage was $1.10 per hour.

1980 was the oil embargo. Gas rationing. Darn near couldn't afford to fill the tank on my El Camino with a 454 in it.

Yes, to get to I-5 from here I must indeed leave Oregon, and travel into and back out of California to get there... or to the eastern side of this county without 4x4, or at least determination. Crescent City Chevron indeed! "Tell him what he's won Don!"

In 79-80 minimum wage was $2.35 an hour. At the same time you could still get Chevron "white pump" leaded Premium for about $.80 per gallon.

In the late 1960's I was paying .23 cents a gallon for regular, I would not pull into a station that did not have a Gas War sign out front. When I worked at a gas station the price was .29 cents. a lot of time girls would pull in with their VW bugs and want .50 cents worth of gas!

Min wage at that time was $1.30 an hour, and the owner complained constantly about having to pay it. DR

How long did you have to sit at the charging station? Unless it's pretty fast, I think I'd rather pay for gas than take an EV on a road trip.

As of yesterday, regular gas was still in the low $4 range here in Salem. A gallon of gas is still cheaper than a gallon of CocaCola, and a much better value considering what you get for your money.

But, why are we still blending ethanol into gasoline these days? It was a knee jerk reaction to the oil embargo in the '70s, but we are a net exporter of oil now. A good example of how stupid laws never go away. Bad for cars, very bad for small engines, bad for food prices. Good for Big Corn, I guess.
