Who cares?

I have no problem with EV infrastructure subsidies, even though I never plan to own one. The option should be available to everyone. Key word: option.

What I do have a problem with is the government telling me which one I have to buy.

Current EVs do not fit my useage, therefore I have no use for one. That doesn't mean I think nobody should have one. They fit a lot of peoples lifestyle perfectly.

Should the technology evolve where I can drive 300-500-ish miles while pulling a trailer without refueling, then be able to refuel in under 10 minutes and continue my journey, I'll happily consider one. Until then, dino juice fuels my life.
Sorry someone further up acted like I was getting over and taking everybody's tax money somehow charging on their dime and I just wanted to point out that some industries don't even pay any money in tax like the oil and gas industry.

My Mustang MachE GT did the quarter mile in 11.8 seconds right off the showroom floor with street tires. That IS probably too much car for most of you guys, but damn what I grin it gives me. For comparison my dad's 1965 Shelby Cobra did it in 12.2 IF you could get it to hook up, and IF it didn't try to swap ends when you shifted to 3rd. The MachE does it every time, no skill necessary (although it wouldn't hurt). That's not even the quickest EV. The experience of maximum torque at zero RPM is one you won't forget.

I built a 502 big block that put 968HP naturally aspirated to the rear wheels in a 67 Camaro that would lift the front wheels off the ground in 4th gear on the freeway at 70mph. Sub 10's at Bandimere pretty reliably.

Then I got into sport bikes. My juiced '06 ZX-10R would embarass exotics on the street and created quite the handfull at Phoenix International Raceway.

Recently a Tesla Plaid owner couldn't drive his toaster well enough to outpace my meager 98hp Triumph 1200 Scrambler.

The squishy bit behind the wheel still matters.

Yeah, but that's not the same as a mild mannered 5 passenger sedan that gets the equivalent of over 100 MPGE AND is easy to insure. My grandson can be on insurance to drive my car. I raced cars, and road raced motorcycles - this isn't about just going fast. Dad's Cobra would melt your shoes, and your singular passenger could never hear you over the racket, plus it drove like a truck and cost twice as much as a Corvette. I'm talking a useful comfortable and efficient sedan that can do everything the Cobra could, and more, for less money. Was the Cobra cool? Hell yes, but it was a miserable car to driv

Wow I've never actually seen a Tesla plad. How did you know it was a Tesla plad did he like stop and talk to you about it? and how do you know he could not out run you that he didn't just like let off the throttle and not want to get a ticket or something? Were you at a drag strip? My old OW31 Yamaha would do an honest 180 mph, but was impossible to drive in traffic to use as actual transportation.

Electric vehicles are so "good" that Ford dropped the Lightning. Said it was the worst mistake they have made in years. The Mach E though, seems to be a pretty popular car.

Like hunting with a very common cartridge where ammo can be found in most places, it's easier to find gas than a charging station. Also, gas can be transported. It's a little more involved to transport electricity and it usually involves fuel of some kind. :D

He was a coworker.

Nobody is excited about your bread machine on wheels.

The two most annoying things about EV's. That damned sound "HmmmMMMMMMmmmmmmm" they put out. AND, the smugness of those that drive them.

So your everyday driver is exotic, and you're rich? Big deal. I'm excited, it's comfortable, relatively quick, hauls everything I need, and has a candy apple red paint job that would have been thousands not very long ago, and it's water based paint. Most importantly I can afford to drive it, my jeep I can't currently. I'm sorry you can't appreciate a solution to $5 gas, but whatever. My bread machine saves me a lot of bread, great name, thanks.

All you need is a bumper sticker that says "I drive an EV so I can afford more ammo"

Tesla Plaid does have badges and interior bits with the Plaid logo. It's pretty obvious to a car guy. I also believe they have slightly different exterior trim and slightly lowered. I can pick one out pretty easily in the Seattle area

What are they going to cost to decommission? The woke states had to ban plastic bags. To be replaced with even thicker plastic bags. And paper. The heavier plastic bags are being banned again some places. No one's figured out a way to recycle plastic into a usable material. What will become of the millions, billions(?), of tons of highly toxic/poisonous materials? We'll just have to wait and see, just don't worry about it now.....We're saving the world buy going all electric.

I don't know about anybody else but I'd deal without all today's comforts and the current price of fuel to own an original Cobra, regardless of how uncomfortable it drove.

And there's nothing that can replace the sound of a healthy exhaust report.

Yes, I would have no problem being accused of over compensating for my TOXIC MASCULINITY to own a Cobra.

But I'm not rich, so all I can do is dream.

All of the "highly toxic" materials are either recyclable or present in the same amount in modern ICE vehicles.

I'm all for the roar of a well tuned big block V8 but it's not practical for a daily driver. I'll also say that the sounds of a high performance EV are distinct and satisfying in their own way.

Super charged V8 internal combustion for me. I like hearing an engine. Not about paying for speed now, it's getting where people will want to pay for having the visceral/audio experience with a performance internal combustion engine. Petroleum isn't going away anytime soon.

EV's aren't practical for some people, to include myself. I don't have any hatred towards those who own EV's. To each their own. No different than some think what I own might not be practical for them.

I'm a mechanical type person not an electronics genius. There isn't anybody on this planet that'll convince me to ever own one.

If you or the original poster like them, good for you guys. The best part of being an American is we all have different opinions and likes concerning vehicles.

I've never owned an economical vehicle that sips gas and never took into account MPG in deciding what to buy.

ETA: I'd daily drive a Cobra in a heart beat, being retired and all.

Just don't shove down my throat how great EV's are or mandate them. If they were so great, the idea wouldn't have to be shoved down my throat without any options.
