Just don't shove down my throat how great EV's are or mandate them. If they were so great, the idea wouldn't have to be shoved down my throat without any options.
I don't think anyone here is saying we should mandate EVs or ban ICE vehicles, but economically they do make the most sense and don't suffer from the same issues that the old Econo-boxes suffered from. The only issue right now is that most apartments don't offer charging accommodations, and they tend to have a higher up-front cost.

Other then for hobby wrenching, Range Extended Electric is where I see the market going especially for Medium-Duty trucks and above. Edison Motors is doing good things in that space. 500hp, 1000 ft/lb of torque per axel is a hell of a way to get things moving with only a small diesel generator to top up the batteries once it gets going.

ETA: I'd daily drive a Cobra in a heart beat, being retired and all.
After working on the car shown in my pic, I gave serious consideration to buying a roller from Superformance and using it as my daily. I had Hilbank's number but hadn't made the call when I decided to buy a new Mustang GT.
This black car is what's called a Continuation Cobra and they come from Shelby American. Built by Superformance in Australia, they are a copy, with updates, of the original 289 car. This one has a fiberglass body, but if your wallet is thick enough, you can get one in aluminum.
The seat sucks butt. That's the only thing I would change on this car. Well, I personally could do without the gumballs and numbers/letters.

Let's see what the EPA has to say about that statement concerning mandates.

Like I said, I have no issue with EV'S and those who WANT to own them.

You do realize the EPA Emissions Standards have caused an ever increasing price on vehicles for decades. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for cleaner burning vehicles but it has come at a cost.

You mean like the way we were tricked into buying gasoline powered cars, and tricked into building sprawling cities that demand car ownership? GM and Standard Oil colluded and bought up much of the public transportation, while pushing for the kind of urban sprawl that necessitates automobile ownership. My aunt used to talk about the electric train system in LA before WW2, about how there was always one within 2 or 3 blocks, and they took you where wanted to go. LA was once walkable, until forces combined to make sure it would never be walkable again. You're afraid of a mandate? At least it's a government mandate, and not just a guarantee of corporate income, and you have SOME say about it.

It's a long video but worth the watch. You can be ooh rah rah rah about fossil fuels and still realize that if we want to be energy independent we need to use as many technologies as we can to do that. The current Hormuz Strait situation is a prime example of what happens when we're too dependent on internationally traded energy.

Yes, to get to I-5 from here I must indeed leave Oregon, and travel into and back out of California to get there... or to the eastern side of this county without 4x4, or at least determination. Crescent City Chevron indeed! "Tell him what he's
Folks live over in brookings. I hate having to drive through California to get there that way. Always have to pull over and unload and lock up. Legal CHL in one state, loose your rights in the next! It was a nightmare when you had the fire up past Gasquet with the twice a day convoy to get through. Usually skip CC with the 197 cutoff but then you miss some nice corners and trees.

So your everyday driver is exotic, and you're rich?
What? Are you bipolar? Seriously, your responses in threads are constantly all over the place.

No, I'm not rich, and have never owned an exotic anything, not that it's any of your bubbleguming business.

A 900+ hp Camaro sounds not only rich, but like a bizarrely exotic car for a daily driver.

Why expend the energy to tell me it's none of my business, if it's none of my business it doesn't require a response. Was it even a question? No. Bipolar disorder is no laughing manner, one of my kids was so afflicted. Wow I guess instead of spending thousands of dollars on medical experts to get my son's diagnosis, we should have just let you read his posts and pretend he's talking to you. Narcissistic much?

Asking me if I'm bipolar isn't really a question now is it? But I'll let it slide as I'm sure such complex concepts are way beyond your cognitive abilities anyway. Next time try asking me to my face, you'll get a better response. Need directions?

A Camaro will never be "exotic", no matter how much HP it has. Lots of hot rodders put in 800+hp engines in everything they can cram them in. Lots of import racers put in the ability to go 1000+hp from measly 2liter engines or smaller with enormous turbos, high RPMs, nitrous.

I think many of the newer EVs have programmed sounds so you can hear them.
They do. They have to. Because man kind, in America at least, is dumbing down at such an advanced rate that they might not even be able to figure out how to feed themselves. Not knowing how to look both ways before crossing a street is a dead giveaway of future inability to feed one's self. Poor souls.

Sounds about right, jeeps are bricks usually with low gears and big tires. Not exactly the poster child of fuel efficiency.

Its probably a few 30-45 minute stops, stops you'd probably (or your body would like you to) take anyway.
We have two Jeeps with the 3.7 V6. The largest one, 4 door, with large oversize tires still gets 11-12 in town. When on the road its starts getting up in the 16 or so MPG. Have not yet tried it pulling the RV for distance. Will see what that does to the MPG. Had an older Cherokee for a long time that we called the monster truck. It was lifted with 32" off road tires and the old strait 6. Even it got the same milage in town that the newer one does. For one to be getting 6-7 unless towing I would be taking it to a shop to see what was going on.
The EV's are coming a long way but, still not really set up well for long distance. Co worker has one and tells me there are different kinds of charging stations. Some MUCH faster than others. I guess if mapping out a long trip drivers would have to consider this.

Check the price on a Plaid.
I can buy a lot of fuel for that entry price.
Damn! Had not paid any attention to them of late. Quick look shows around 100K for a new one. That is one large chunk of change  Did not bother to look at them but, have to guess they must be one nice car for those who can afford them.

When those things were first hitting the market I remember them talking about adding sound to them for safety. Fear that people would step in front of them not hearing them. Now with cell phones people will walk in front of a damn train

I may have said it here before, but where EVs shine are for short trips. For long range and having the ability to minimize stops, gas hybrids are the best.
Charging in my experience having when I leased my Tesla, can be a bit tedious. Either the chargers break, get vandalized, they're all being used, and of course have that one person that doesn't come back in a timely manner to get out after their car is charged etc.

The Camaro was 25 years ago.

Oooh... an internet tough guy....I skeeered.

It'll be natural attrition…
