So, lets have a little fun. Here are two cartridges. What do you
think they are? Several pictures to look at.

1. All aluminum. Markings on side of cartridge: RH UTM 9mm
Notice the primer at the base and the opening at the top.

2. Brass base with aluminum top (appears not made to detach.)
Markings on base of cartridge: IVI 07 5.56
Notice the primer at the base and the opening at the top

Best guess is that they never held any powder as there is no
residue or darking at the top opening.

Could these have been some kind of blank for training purposes
or for firing salutes or ? It seems evident that neither cartridge
would cause a semi-automatic firearm to eject the case when fired.
