FYI did some testing with some various guns and same suppressor, same location, same dirt target. Sound was measured approx 5 feet away to the shooter's immediate left (the side opposite from the ejection port). Used federal suppressor 45grain 970fps.

Was shot under an overhang structure so results on open land probably would be quieter. I was only interested in the relative sound from one gun to another so this testing is fine for that because conditions and location were identical for all tests.

16" barrel AR type rifle brand A 91.5 db - baseline level - (action alone -no shooting- was 89.3db,)
16" AR type rifle brand B 92.5 db - 20% perceived sound increase - (did not test action alone)
9" AR type pistol 94.5db - 60% perceived sound increase - (did not test action alone)
3.4" semi auto pistol 98db - 130% perceived sound increase - (action alone was 87db)
