I was skeptical of the Pew science testing that showed 9mm sound levels being the same as 22lr. But having now shot them side by side I can't hear any difference. In an mp5 the loudest sound you hear is the action. It sounded too good to be true when looking at the pew science #s, but it's not.

For clarity I'm referring to full size mp5 shooting subs, and 22lr rifle shooting subs with a standard 22 can.

Dang!!! And I bet the action from an MP5 is already quiet as it is
Would changing the locking piece do anything to help that or would it make it worse?
The thing about locking piece is there is no need to change it unless someone finds the one they are using is affecting reliability. The vent 2 is a flow through can so no appreciable affect on bolt speed.

But in theory you are correct a lower angle locking piece would reduce action noise cuz bolt speed is slower. I have a 90 degree and 80 degree I could try just for giggles.

I just never thought 9mm could be as quiet as 22lr suppressed. Technology has taken a huge leap forward imo.

I think with this "sea change" of technology people will resist the facts for about a year or whatever until figures of "authority" start telling them their own experiences. Then it will be "common knowledge". Ti foam seems to be the future. Never thought I would see the day but I guess it makes sense cuz most modern suppressors are modified versions of maxim's 100+ year old design. Only other thing I could think of for the future woudl be wave cancelling like car mufflers use. I bet we will see that before 5-10 years but just a guess

I came up with a design, and theory over ten years ago that I had not seen presented.
I have been waiting for suppressors to be delisted before making anything.
Recently I saw a video that showed my idea, and proof of theory.
Quite pissed I am...

I believe it!….I probably should have spent some time reading some pew science reviews and looking at their data before I made any of my purchases, but! I've discovered it's made it more sporty going in semi blind on my purchase. YouTube videos are great but I've yet to buy a silencer and be like "yep, sounds just like the tv." Which has made the whole experience kinda fun.
