The BGC is supposed to be used to catch those who aren't supposed to have a Firearm and to put them in Jail or Prison. Unfortunately, it just isn't happening because nobody really cares about putting those that belong there back there. Just too many Voters for the Democrats to loose. They would much rather go after the Law Abiding Citizens who are much easier Pray because many simply don't resist since that would be breaking the Law. Can you say "Catch 22"???

This article definitely proves, as some rightly noted, that background checks are only for the law-abiding citizen! Obviously, the 2nd Amendment doesn't have to be eliminated if it becomes too difficult or impossible to purchase firearms and ammo.

Yup, nailed it, de facto registration, why else demand the firearms S.N. make, model, and cal/gauge! and why demand all of that be tied to your name and information!
And dont fall for "in case of a transfer" bullsnit, the ONLY time a firearm should be traced is when it is brought in to trade/sell, amd rhats on the receiving shop amd seller, with no sellers info given, if it's stolen, red flag amd LEO on the way, if not, entered into the books and off we go! To the OP, the 4473 SHOULD alert I.C.E to a known illegal, and the LEO should sweep them up and turn them over! States should nkt be allowed to preempt fed law, as oregon expressly has, despite having an anti preemption clause in the States constitution!

Requiring law enforcement alerts upon denied firearm transactions is a good idea in principle but would require an absolutely colossal amount of resources that state and federal agencies simply don't have. There are probably hundreds of thousands of denials every year across the country, with many of those denials made in error. WA state has required law enforcement alert for every denied transaction for a few years and I am aware of ONE prosecution stemming from that, for a misdemeanor offense of false swearing. It's essentially one of those gun control laws that get passed but never enforced, much like many other ones.
