Did someone swap out the upper reciever? Looks like an aero precision forged upper based on the A...

The markings are the manufacturers then the company name gets added when they build the firearms.

All of my Smith & Wessons have that "A" mark on the upper receivers. Another way to tell if it is factory is that the rail will be marked S&W. Very nice`rifle, I love mine, GLWS
