Silicone stoppers for suppressor cleaning

Anybody use these stoppers for filling suppressor with cleaning fluid? Seems like less waste than those clear cylinders where you fill up the whole thing with cleaning fluid.

All of mine are user serviceable both ends and I am happy after shooting the 22 it needs to be cleaned well .

I just felt nauseous honestly ! I do have a friend that actually does not and wonders why they don't come apart anymore .

I could not tell you the last time I cleaned one of mine and they some have thousands of rounds.

My boss did that and blew a can up. The manufacturer said to fill with hot soapy water, never cleaning fluid. I don't have any cans now, gave the all back to my employer

Interesting. I wonder if you plugged just the one end then any gases could escape.

That's what he did. Soaked it for a while and then blew it out. Within 5 shots it blew up

Wild. According to Huxwrx when they were still OSS, you'd clean their non serviceable cans by soaking them in whatever solution and intentionally shooting it out. Like a great big, gross sneeze.

I have only used the silicone plugs when rattle-canning, but not for cleaning a suppressor

Looking at that photo I'm guessing he used a flammable cleaner and then shot it while there was still some of the fluid or gas from the fluid in the can.

The modern suppressor cleaners are designed for overnight soak then flush with water. So it shouldn't be an issue. Mainly for use with 3d printed cans but could be used for any can. Many of these are non toxic.


Seems to me the soak in cylinder wastes a lot of fluid. Could use stopper and soak or stopper plus just spray inside and let soak overnight then flush.

I go with whatever the manufacturer says with respect to cleaning. At least one can we have it explicitly says don't clean it, for example. Those that require a cleaning and not some specific solvent, I've had really good results with the Breakthrough cleaner. Soak overnight, rinse out/off, a few rounds blows the remainder out, and done. I had a spectacularly funky centerfire pistol silencer I couldn't even get apart to clean and it worked great.
