Pretty bland show to me. Was really hoping for a Glock carbine to be announced but all we got was a flashlight. Maybe next year...

I also noticed a lot of companies are releasing things well before shot show so it's almost like it doesn't really matter these days

Though not very interesting, I will probably get one of these 3.5" barreled plastic enhanced pistols if/when it makes it to the FirstLine program.

Comes in 3.5" or 4.25" length barreled models, and with a reduced grip length (and reduced magazine capacity).

Edit to add: 18FEB2025 It looks like Springfield added the compacts to the Fristline Program.

Other than that...just keeping an eye on things, and hoping none of my favored items are on the chopping block.

Add: Looks like B&T continues to innovate and re-market. Glock 19 Hush Puppy Kit

Yea Dawoo and Ap53 are the two I would be interested in. I can't imagine me not buying the AP53 unless it's either not out yet by m114 time or it takes too long to drop in price from the new release hype price.
First batch of ap53's arrived at several dealers. All were sold out within an hour (at known dealers I mean). They are selling at full msrp which is about $150 over starting street price. Don't think I want it that bad to pay full msrp. Some dealers I've never heard of have it "in stock" and I won't be buying from those no matter the price. I wouldn't mind having the Daewoo if it's near that $1299 price but my gut tells me it will be $1599. The daewoo has an actually useful barrel length while the ap53 is more of a fire and brimstone length that's less useful in terms of velocity/energy (8.8" 5.56).

Just a heads up for anyone interested in the ap53, there are some unknowns of how easy it is to put a stock on it. Complicated so won't bother with the details. It ships with a stock that has been chopped down apparently and will work fine as an unbraced pistol. Looks weird though and my intention was to replace that weird looking end cap first thing. That may not be easy though right now. So I'm going to wait until the whole stock/brace thing is resolved on it. And due to m114 that means I might miss out, which I can live with. Here is how it ships:

I have the brn-180 10.5" with folding stock (sbr) and the hk sl8 20" and reg ARs so it's not like it fills a need. The brn-180 is likely a more cable weapon anyway and is the same OAL. The stock issue for the AP3 may take a 3rd party to craft a buffered end cap with pic rail or maybe a surplus military hk33/53/93 collapsing or full stock. Not sure. Also the 8.5" mp5 in .308 is readily available for about 2/3 the price and is currently the funnest gun I have.

Looks like ap53 will be in stock today or tomorrow. If anyone cares I see two option for stock/brace:

1) cheapest - attach piece of metal pic rail to existing end cap with metal plates on both sides. This allows you to use any 1913 rail or stock. Easy to do and have done it several times. Cost = $1700 for fun plus $10 for pic rail = $1710 (assuming you don't sbr and use a 1913 stock).
Here is similar sized gun with 1913 rail stock (sbr), substitute a brace for the stock if going that route:

2) most expensive - buy Mke 33 stock and hk 53 recoil rod and stamp. This would give you collapsible stock. Cost is $1700+360 (stock)+ 50 (rod) + 200 (stamp) = $2310

3) collapsable brace option. Not sure if this would work but could use collapsible brace and add a buffer to it and a hk53 recoil rod. $1700+$50+30+200= $2000ish

Any of those options is cheaper than real hk one. No idea what that woudl even cost cuz long rifle version is $5300 now and this shorty version should be much higher than that. $7000k?

Ap53 is in stock at Atlantic now if anyone wants one. To get it set up the way I want it with sbr, stock, recoil rod, smaller angle locking piece woudl total around $2500+. That's just too much for a gun that would be cool but inferior to an sbr I already have in the same OAL and caliber. Also my gut feel would be I wiudl
Much rather shoot the same gun but in .308 and I already have that (my favorite gun). It's funny I didn't know if I truly wanted it or not until researching all add ons and it coming in stock finally and actually having it in my cart. The opportunity cost of $2500 is just too high. Could buy a suppressor + fancy SAA + a $900 something instead for the same $. Just too much for me. But for those that have been waiting like I have they may feel it's well worth it. At $1400 for everything I would buy it in a heartbeat. Just saved $4000/year today by switching insurance companies so I should feel like I found a bunch of free $ in my pocket. But I always go by value (bang for the buck) and it has always served me well in everything. I'll continue to live by that rule and gladly buy one of these in the future if price is more acceptable.
