Oh, I've got to disagree with that. We would be overflowing, and criminals would have to be released for quite awhile I would think. Just in the last four years there has to be hundreds of crim's arrested, not put in jail, and still commiting crimes. HELL! They built a $6,000,000.00 prison and NEVER USED IT! Ended up selling that un-used prison for a million and change I think!
It will not happen but, it also would not be hard to really fix this. There is no reason prison needs to cost what it does for one. We could slap them up and treat the inmates just like we treat Military. Same living conditions, same food. We could also stop bothering to keep people for really stupid stuff that clogs the places. The real crime we have now is VASTLY performed by repeat offenders. Lock up the ones who prove they just do not want to live in our society. Those who blatantly kill? Kill them soon. Of course none of this is going to happen so kind of moot. What it does come down to is we are going to have to take responsibility for our own safety. Don't "get out of" Jury Duty. One place we need good people is on Juries. Some places the top law people have an agenda.

The Blue Line goes to O'Hare. Just an FYI in case anyone is traveling there soon. Maybe take an Uber instead.
When my wife and I lived in Chicago for a year, we took the Blue line to O'Hare or the Orange line to Midway depending on what flights were cheaper since we still had a home in Washington State.

"Police said ... that the attack was completely random."

Couldn't have been a hate crime or nothin' like that. Nah, no way.

define a hate crime in Chicago
the Blacks hate the Italians, who hate the Irish, who hate the Polish, who hate the Germans, who hate the Russians, who hate the Ukrainians

I lived in Chicago for a year back in '94/'95
my wife came to visit from Oregon for 2 weeks
when we went out to my favorite bar, my wife asked the bartender if I had been behaving myself
this was in the Italian area of Melrose Park
the bartender told my wife: YOUR HUSBAND IS IRISH, THERE'S NOT A GOOD ITALIAN WOMAN WITHIN 2 MILES WHO WILL EVEN TALK TO HIM!!

California's 3strike rule shows many criminals admitting it had a affect on their actions. Did it stop all criminal acts, no. But it was one thing that had an impact. That shows, enforcement has a positive affect when done properly.

I should think so! But I still believe that if we started detaining criminals that there's be "No room at the Inn", pretty darn quick.

Man, I'm actually sorry that I googled this. :(

This is NOT going to happen here but, makes a fine example. LONG ago I was at a church thing of some kind. Speaker from Saudi was there. One question he got was about the cutting off the hand of a thief. The speaker laughed and said you Americans think us barbarians. He said "we have not cut off anyone's hand in many many years. The last one we did was a guy who was from another country and did not understand our laws. In other words people did not steal because they knew what the punishment was going to be.

BUT, But, but.........

Illinois law banning concealed carry on public transit is unconstitutional, judge rules

Yeah Rrrrrright..... Shoot back?!?!

Aloha, Mark

They released his ID around 1:30 pm our time today

From the article, the suspect: "...has been arrested several times since 2014—and he was sentenced to two years' probation for a misdemeanor battery charge that year. He also pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in 2020"

present research shows the shooter had documentation under at least 3 names
he had no FOID card under the name on the ID he was arrested with, but had permits under other names
the Illinois Safe Community act is worthless if the State doesn't perform adequate back ground checks
under the present Democrat run system any convicted felon gang member can just file for a FOID under another name with a $25 fake ID and get by

Gov bureaucracy at its finest

One problem is jail/prison is way too comfortable.
Take away their TV's.

Bring back the chain gang, breaking rocks, and clearing swamps. Oh, and the striped outfits too. No sense in making the Beagle Boys comfortable. Make prison a place they truly want to stay out of.
