Can you post a picture of the area directly behind the tang? Also it appears that the Savage receiver stamp is under the the front scope stamp, this indicates that it is not factory tapped for a scope. Thanks, RP

The 99's shot (and shoot) so well that the majority of undrilled ones still in use by the time scopes came to wide usage got poked, especially those in great performing calibers such as the .300. Purist collectors don't like it, but it made perfect sense.

Type of duplex, I like the wide angle part a lot neat to see more to the left or right when it is moving
