I recently moved to Oregon and do not know yet who the go to people are for assembling an upper. I have done most of my own work out of state but dont have a Geissele reaction rod or Midwest Industries upper receiver rod. I have a vice but haven't attached it to a bench yet.

I have a new upper, barrel, gas block and tube with handguard that need to assembly.
Does anybody have any suggestions?

Get the Midwest tool
It's fantastic.

Plenty of videos on assembly of uppers, it's generally pretty easy. 641B1A91-A791-454A-A96F-94FEB76338EC.jpeg

Have assembled several of my own from scratch, and it's a pretty straightforward process. Highly recommend giving it a shot - there are plenty of how-to videos out there from reputable sources, like Brownells.

Edited. My bad for skimming the post instead of reading it properly. I see the issue isn't "I need help assembling" so much as "I don't have the tools and shop setup yet". I would just prioritize getting the tools and space set up unless there is a time constraint you're working against.

I have built many myself in my life, in Washington (before the unconstitutional ban when into effet). I also used to assemble and do work for friends so i not only am not afraid of it, i enjoy doing it and had a lot of people get my help when i was in WA. However in the move to Oregon, I found i am lacking the barrel locking rod to enable proper torque of the barrel nut. The barrel i have fits perfectly with the upper and no shims or smithing work is needed. I have the tools to install the gas block. I have a Geissele barrel nut wrench and torque wrench-- The only thing I lack are the tools to lock the barrel in place so I can torque the barrel nut.

I use this for building mine and it works great. Not sure which sponsored shops on here carry it in Salem, but it's a good tool to have.
