How can I tell if a Smith has a lock? Or it is all dependent on date of manufacture to determine lock status?

Note the lock right above the cylinder latch;

Note that this 642 has no lock;

Also it can be noted that locks were introduced around 2000/2001, after the clinton agreement and Saf-T takeover.

So forgive me for having no knowledge about this, when did they start adding the lock?

Oops, I just added that part my previous post;

"Also it can be noted that locks were introduced around 2000/2001, after the clinton agreement and Saf-T takeover."

Thankfully most of the models I am looking for were never made with a lock.

Heh. BTW it does seem that they have the lock situation sorted. Also it seems like they have (S&W) decided not to get rid of the lock after all.

Well its alright, the lock somehow "fell" out of my .460.... :s0131:

Now I just need to figure out how to make the MIM parts disappear...
