This one came without a manual safety. I'm not sure if there is a model with a manual safety, but I don't remember ever seeing one.

S&W manufacturers 1 style of M&P frame, it is manufactured with the cut out for a thumb safety for the models they include a thumb safety on. All other models they plug the cut out. I'm assuming it is cheaper to plug it than it is to manufacture two frames.
