Ruger10/22 bolt lock

I can run some of this CCI 22 quiet through my Tony Kidd with a 7X scope, off the bags and let you know how it groups
will base line with Eley match ammo
I don't have a stock 10/22 to test with
don't expect me to be as accurate as my son, even with a 7X scope, my 75 year old hand still shake some

based on my experience this morning with my dedicated sub sonic 10/22, this CCI Quiet is going to be my go to ammo for kick the can down the field
I can sit out on my porch and shoot beer cans in the yard and no one will know

Im trying to decide between the standard and the low profile version. The low profile version comes with its own charging handle. Does the standard version clamp onto the stock charging handle? Like with a set screw?

my neighbors have chickens and I get the occasional rat I used to cull with the air rifle. We will see how this does sound wise, but everything's on order including the Kidd buffer. I selected the low profile version, its not often I use the 22 but occasionally hunt grouse and rabbit with it so it gets carried in the field now and then.

my sub sonic 10/22 sits by the front door - if I'm going out with a firearm for varmints, the 10/22 is all I need

my neighbor caught a young cougar on her trail cam 2 weeks ago - the only time I had to confront a cougar, all i had was a cup of coffee
he was probably 50 yrds away from my porch, I stood at my gate with my cup off coffee looking at him, he stopped, looked at me, flicked his tail, then continued up the field into the trees
I guess an old man before he finished his coffee was something he didn't want to deal with

I dug thru my box of 22 ammo and found 4 boxes of Aguila 22 Colibri, 20gn bullet "powderless". It doesn't list a velocity but new boxes on Midway show 420fps. I remember testing these for noise in my tiny NAA pug revolver, without earpro, at the time I was just curious how quiet they could be from such a small gun. I noted they were more of a "medium pop" sound... medium being bearable but still too loud so I discarded the idea of plinking with them in that little gun.
I'll have to see how these sound along side the CCI Quiet in single shot 10/22. The Quiet is rated at 710fps so thats a more practical rat medicine.

edit, on second though I wonder if a "powderless" 22 will even make it down a 16in barrel....

as far as flexibility of the .22 LR, we have several hundred rounds of Aquila 60 gn

and have one 10/22 with a 1/7 twist 18" barrel to stabilize it
had an old '76 Dodge van - steel panels and even double steel panel doors in front
from 20 yrds, the 60 gn .22 LR would penetrate through both doors
even a 9mm NATO couldn't do that

got it - you don't own a suppressor - not even a NAPA fuel filter or oil filter for a Kubota tractor
what barrel do you have?
I have 16", 18" and 20" to test from
our bullet trap is 6' of dirt berm - or 3/8" AR 500 steel

Barrel isnt threaded, its an 18in Green Mountain bull barrel, I think its a 1:16 twist.

that will handle any sub sonic up to 40 gn
the .22 LR gets full powder burn at 16", your 18" bbl should be just fine

So thats why there is a hummingbird icon on my boxes of Colibri.
My guess would be the Colibri's to be the quietest option, my guess is by powderless they mean they are propelled by just the primer ignition. It would be interesting to run some of these over my chronograph.

Just waiting on the bolt lock to arrive, though I could probably wedge a piece of wood in the bolt to get the same effect and test the Colibri's. I need to order some of those CCI Quiet's...

Had one of a dozen stuck in the barrel. Lucky for me, it was virtually no effort to push out with a cleaning rod. Testing these showed very little power, one bounced off the stacked paper bullet trap.
I still need to order some of the CCI "quiet" as the Colibri's wont be of use for me since there is a risk of a squib despite being virtually silent.

I guess my Remington Nylon has a looser barrel than yours

I just received 5 boxes of new production Colibri 2 days ago
just fired 10 rnds through my Remington at Coors cans at 25 yrds off my porch
the "ting" when it hit the beer can was the only noise
checked the barrel with a bore light after every shot
was able to put each round through the "O" on a Coors can at that distance - no failure

but I have these new artificial eyes
if you want, send me the rest of your Colibri, I can use them in my Remington

I was really worried at first, but it was so easy to push out with the cleaning rod. It was stuck right near or at the chamber.....

Tell me about the Bentz chamber, because I think thats what my Green Mountain barrel has. What is a Bentz chamber?
