I own a Stainless Ruger MKII 22/45, and have never liked the feel of the grip frame. I found a guy who makes custom 1911 style grip panels that fit the MKII series. He also has grips for MKIII's. (MKIII grip frames are flat, and MKII's are slightly curved) He sells grips in several colors, and also makes extended magazine pads which help you to fully seat your mags.
All that I needed to do was drill 4 1/8" holes for the grip screws and tap them with an 8-32 tap.
With a little care, I was able to make my 22/45 fit my hand much better, and make it look a little better, in my eyes. I'll let you guys decide if you like it or not, but for me, it's the cat's meow...
UPDATE: I see that Ruger has just announced 22/45's that have 1911 grips already installed from the factory as an option!
