I have a percussion Longrifle made by Royland Southgate in 1950.
Southgate made guns from 1947 to about 1978...all in all , there are a shade over 1000 of guns out and about.
Southgate guns are hand made "Lock , Stock and Barrel as well as hand rifled...
No "Off the Shelf" kit gun here...this is as close as you can get to a 19th Century Longrifle , without actually buying one.

.38 Caliber ( .375 round ball , .10 patch and 40 grains of 2F is a excellent load )
38 inch barrel...
Double set triggers...
Cherry full stock with inlays and carving...
Signed on the top barrel flat and lockplate...
Engraved brass patchbox...
Excellent bore and shooter.

I am looking for a Pre-64 Winchester 1894 Carbine or Rifle...In .30WCF ( .30-30 )*
Carbine can be a Saddle Ring or not...Rifle is preferred with a octagonal barrel , but round barrel is not a deal breaker.
The 94 doesn't have to be pristine ...I expect use , but not abuse marks...
( Not wanting a trashed or project gun either )
More important to me is bore condition and overall function condition...as I am wanting this to be a vintage hunting rifle for me.
* A Pre-64 Model 64 or 55 , in .30-30 would work as well...

Not really wanting to ship as finding a shipping box for a Longrifle is a PITA....
Thank you for looking.
Andy
