I remember going to Shari's as a kid and there being smoking and non-smoking sections. I was explaining that to my nieces and nephews the other day and they were dumbfounded by the idea of smoking inside a restaurant. I think they stopped allowing smoking indoors in like 2004? Maybe someone older than me remembers exactly when Oregon banned it.
Oregon's Indoor Clean Air Act, which banned smoking indoors in public places and workplaces, took effect on January 1, 2009. This included bars, restaurants, and other businesses that were previously exempt from the law. The ban also prohibited smoking within 10 feet of entrances, exits, and ventilation systems.

Shoot, I should've mentioned they're closed.
I think they shut down during the pandemic and went back to the mainland.
Bummer. Next time I go back east I may have to put Detroit in the loop. And also get a real corned beef sandwich on the correct double-baked rye, some coney dogs, and Lebanese garlic chicken. I can properly reproduce the latter two, but the right rye bread is a thing. I have not been able to reproduce it with low-mid grade baking skills.

I remember being at the Portland Farmer's Market one spring Saturday after the law passed. A Karen was harassing another patron in attendance because she was smoking. There weren't any "no smoking" signs posted anywhere, and just like our State gubmint, pass a law and make law abiding people into criminals. I told the Karen to move farther away if she didn't like it. Personally, I abhor smoking, but consider it someone's right to do it out in open air public areas.

Anyone remember Dr.Munchies ? was by the Lancaster mall, where the Best Buy is now? Some of the greasiest Pepperoni pizzas you could get, you needed extra napkins to dab off all the grease but when your in your 20s it was hard to beat beer and $5 large pizzas
I remember going there as a kid, wasn't too bad of a pizza for the Snailem area.

I think he was thinking of the local rub and tug......Kimlengloveyoulongtime!
Christ man.....
One of my long time friend wants to take me to this joint. He claims that the chick will say "I Luv Yah" at the moment of impact. I almost got hooked, line and and sinker :s0071: till I went first to see some a few of our friends. They claimed the same thing and especially taking it from a guy that I know for a long time that I hardly see him brush his teeth in the bowl of 10 years. Come on man...... :s0092:

Real A&W's. Papa Burgers, Teen Burgers, frosty mugs of root beer. Just hook that tray on the window and dine. Howard Johnson's had good food and the Woolworth's cafeteria was always good.
