Recommendations for concealed carry red dot?

The Holosun EPS Carry is very well-regarded and can be had for under $300 if you look, though they're incredibly weird about MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) so you'll usually have to do some digging - r/gundeals on Reddit often has sales.

If you don't want to jump through those hoops or want something cheaper, I have heard good things about the Gideon Valor Mini, which I have not installed on my own gun yet but do have coming in the mail this week.

Red dots can take some getting used to. So if it's going on a carry gun make sure to get your reps in. I have red dots on a few guns in my carry rotation but generally I carry without a dot personally.

Under 300 look at Swampfox or Primary Arms.

The two critical features are shake awake and auto brightness. The latter feature will probably land in the higher priced end optics so think carefully if you can live without auto brightness in whatever situation you envision needing your optic.

My recommendation is whatever you buy clean it often. It's a commitment you have to make. Also practice your presentation. Angle of presentation has to be right or you get no dot in the window. To help with this, look for Vulcan dot. It has a dot plus a huge ring that extends well beyond the window. So if in a tense situation you see no dot in the window the big circle is a guide to quickly get your gun/red dot in alignment. Primary arms has Vulcan dot and probably some others brands do too. I have many brands of red dots (I think I'm at about 30ish red dots total) and one of my favorites is vector optics, mainly because they have circle dot reticles and are well made for an inexpensive dot.

I have a Holosun 407K in green on my XMacro and my wife has the EPS Carry in red on her standard P365 and I can't say enough good things about both of them.

I opted for a holosun 407k x2. The cleaning tip is a good reminder. I plan on getting very familiar with the sight so hopefully I won't have an issue with the red dot not showing up.

Great! Suggest getting a lens pen cuz it has a soft bristle brush that you can quickly knock off most of the crud without damage. Or a little rocket blower is awesome too. Don't do wet cleaning or lens pen rubber cleaning pad until you have to is my suggestion. More frequent light cleaning is better than deep cleaning in terms of creating scratches so the less you do the deep cleaning the better.

oh dang, I'd never heard of these. Makes me feel a lot better about maybe getting an open emitter in the future.

Also, I just started wearing glasses and there's already some dust in the nooks and crannies of the frames.

FYI the rocket blower (or similar) is the least likely to scratch, gentle brush such as found on lens pen second most likely to not scratch, then wet wipe such as with Zeiss wipes or lenspen rubber feet (has a graphite lubricant built in) third most likely.

good looking out. I have a Costco sized box of the zeiss wipes already, so having the two extra steps is great. Sorry to hijack the thread!

Zeiss wipes are awesome. Something to note though is inexpensive glasses have anti-reflecting coating that can be worn off with the alcohol in Zeiss wipes over time (it's happened to me). Probably only applies to lower end glasses but not sure. I've never had an issue with high end camera lenses coating getting depleted but I use only very rarely on those due to potential for abrasion (with anything you rub on the surface I mean, not unique to Zeiss wipes).

These were very expensive glasses and I will be very upset if the Zeiss wipes do any damage, but this is also good to know as a new glasses wearer.

In the meantime I did not take my own advice and did not buy a Holosun, but OP will be incredibly happy with theirs.

Practice, practice, practice. Dry fire or just presentation from draw, are both critical so that presentation angle becomes automatic. If you can discipline yourself, 5-10 minutes a day is a great way to ingrain good habits.
