"Bye" in portland I believe knows the atf rules and regs very well, so I have been told

Just look at any firearm made after 1968 and you will see what the manufacturer roll marks look like.

This. Exactly why I picked a short name for my trust: BJR NFA Trust.

My first trust 17 years ago I used "my full name revocable living trust " . Good lord that was stupid. Worked fine until I got into form 1'ing stuff. Now its just "my initials trust" . As long as the full title of your trust is engraved your fine. Remember YOU name your trust.

If your trust title contains the word "the", then without exception you legally need to engrave it. Real world, however, it would make sense to anyone examining paperwork the exclusion of the word "the". However, you could still be cited for improper documentation, which in itself does not carry a significant penalty. Kinda like a "fixit ticket".
