Mechanical locks only. No fobs, finger print, batteries or 'by pass keys'.

They are more expensive but the decent ones and up do not fail. I think mine is VTec brand maybe.

Amazon sells a lot.

I've been looking at a few different ones. What is everyone using?
This is a good option for quick access.
Says 1 gun but can hold 2 of most size of firearms as it's the XL model. It's big enough that you can even modify the inside to add a holster mount or store a holstered firearm plus mags unmodified. I've got a few and even wall mounted one.

VaulTek makes good options as well.

Have had a half dozen different quick access safes over the years, and I like this one the best so far. Main pros in my book are:
  • Buttons are large and easy to feel in the dark
  • Has a manual key backup, but so far batteries are running strong. Probably worth changing out once a year along with smoke detector batteries just to be safe.
  • Has a motion activated light inside so you can see the gun as you're grabbing it
  • It opens quickly and reliably, no delayed door swinging.
  • Because it opens by hinging outward and downward from the face of the safe, you don't have to worry about crap getting stacked on top of it and blocking your access.
  • When it opens the pistol grip is angled towards you, making it easy to pull into a ready position, even when laying down.
  • Doesn't take up bedside table space because it's mounted to wall.

I have two of these now and my daughter has one also. They are no joke. I can access it quicker in the dark then the electronic one I had before, there's no beeping or lights and it's extremely well built. They're $300, but you get what you pay for and I don't have to worry about anyone getting into them.

A long time ago I bought a Tracker Brand 4 digit quick access box and used it forever. That was until I was at work, my wife was in the master bathroom doing makeup and heard it open. My two year old daughter was able to get into it and could have easily grabbed my loaded XD45. That "safe" was given to my son as a piggy bank. Please don't cheap out on anything if you have kids around. The VaulTek I got to replace was over $400 with the selected options but I have a much better piece of mind.
