Question on leather band

I picked up another load of stuff from my buddies estate, and have an item that I'm not familiar with. It's a leather band, 16 1/2" x 3", not including the straps, and is fairly thick leather. Any ideas what it's used for? Thanks for any help.

It is a Shooting Cuff. To be complete, it needs the Short Sling section to attach to the rifle.

Edit to add: I will pm you with a link showing the details and features of a proper sling. The slings that you posted below (#8), do not have those features.

Thanks MT! I also got a box of holsters and slings, so I'll see if one of the slings looks like the one in the picture. I know there's not a glove. For 64 Mercs, my buddy was a Korean War, Vietnam vet, and wasn't into Michael Jackson.

Do one of these slings look right? They're longer than the one in the guns international picture. One is 48" and the wider one is 40".
