Isn't there supposed to be an exchange of FFL info exchange between the SENDING FFL and the receiving FFL?

On another forum a member who claims to be an FFL bought a gun for HIMSELF (a RIFLE) , reports he never received it (and a myriad of other problems) however he states the person who sent it did NOT know it was supposed to be SENT by an FFL and just sent it to him (USPS) like any package.

Wouldn't/Shouldn't an FFL inform a sender of the proper procedures?

It's perfectly legal for individuals to ship firearms.

The recipient needs to either be an FFL or the owner of the firearm.

Some FFL's will have internal policies to not receive from an individual, in which case the sending FFL will include a copy of their license in the package, or some require individuals to include a copy of their ID.

An FFL shipping would include FFL information. "Bound book" tracking.

A non-FFL shipping would not, because they are not an FFL. However as @Nosferatu mentioned above, non-FFL's have stipulations on whom we can ship to (self or FFL, including smiths/manufacturers).

The one who sold the gun could send a long gun by USPS but, sounds like he did not tell them what he was shipping. If it really did get lost would be fun to be able to find out who ended up with it.

If you ship use "Ship My Gun" it's a third party UPS company that gets great deals on shipping. And it has a database of FFLs all over the us to make transactions smooth.
