I saw this article below and was curious if anyone has fired any firearm chambered in 5.8x42 that was, say captured somewhere in or around Iraq or Afghanistan?? Or physically seen the ammunition.
The one thing that comes to mind about these rifles is that they use a round different than the traditional AK/SKS platform...so those that prepped with AR's chambered in 5.45x39 and 7.62x39 will find them useless when the ammo dries up and there is only 5.8x42...
Does not seem that Russia uses this round, or do they??

First Photos of Chinese PLA New Standard Rifle and What We Know So Far -
Back in May 2017, TFB reported about the Chinese PLA possibly replacing the QBZ-95-1 bullpup with a "traditional" layout rifle. Today, two photos of the Chinese new standard issue rifle have appeared on social media.
