Oregon politicians are always crying about the old property tax measures that passed in the past 30 years (I think Measures 5 and 50) in the past that limit the amount they can confiscate from us peons. I would love to see the State print on everyone's tax bill what they would be paying if those measures hadn't passed. Then people would understand why those measures were so necessary. Right now, my assessed value is less than half of my RMV, so mine would at least be doubled.
And yet, hasn't there been some pretty large surplus "kickbacks" (which I am sure they don't like too)?

I personally do not mind the levies for first responders; I reminded all of my neighbor's last election to vote for the TVFR levy - those guys deserve it after fighting all the fires, especially the one in 2020.

Yes. I'm about a mile outside city limits with plenty of timber in the area and have three separate line items on my bill for fire coverage. We've been in Level 1 evacuation multiple times in the past few years, so I don't begrudge them the money.
