Every time I get the gun buying itch I start browsing online classifieds (not just here but all the usual online places) and it seems like used guns cost just as much, if not more, than buying new.

I'll add that I'm usually looking to save a few bucks on something specific and somewhat common, I'm not looking for something rare, long out of production or just browsing for a screaming deal on something random.

Where's the best place to look if you already have something in mind? Or just forget it and buy new? At least that way I get a warranty.

Yep. Guns here typically are priced 100%-130% of new retail. I don't know why. It makes no sense.

There are some sellers at reasonable prices, say 80%-90% of retail or whatever, but not that many.

If I were you I would forget it and buy new. Check gun deals website.

I've gotten alot of great deals here, some hard to belive. You just have to be fast cause they don't last long when they do pop up

I'm looking for cowboy guns, I need two Vaqueros and a lever rifle.
That's a tough one.
I've seen the cowboy action set sell off their gear here occasionally, but it's pretty rare.
Buying a new lever gun is going to sting , but it's probably your best bet if you're going for pistol caliber.

I honestly can't remember the last time a vaquero was listed here used. Much less a brace of them.

Right now the Rossi R92 is looking pretty good at 750-ish new for the 24" octagon barrel version. Something I could short stroke would be nice but I'm not trying to be fast, I just like to tinker. Other than that the R92 is exactly what I want at a decent price new, but I'm not in a rush.

And personally I don't mind if the handguns match, in fact I think it would be neat if they didn't. So long as they have the same barrel length and feel generally
the same in hand I don't care if they are different colors and come at different times. Like I said, no rush.

For that octagonal model dont forget to search for both Rossi and heritage. It's being sold under both names now.

It seems that there are primarily two types of people selling their guns. The first type just want them gone quick and easy, and usually sell them for 50 cents on the dollar (or less) at gun or pawn shops. Then there are those who feel the need to get back what they've got into it. They post it here and it sits forever, or until they find a sucker. Occasionally the former type will post their wares here for cheap, and it goes fast. I don't constantly peruse the classifieds here, so I usually miss them too, but I've heard stories. :)

Bimart has 3 of these right now 1000004262.jpg

For a short time bimart had them online only. Best price i found
I bought mine from a local dealer that had one on the shelf. So I probably paid too much for it but I needed it for a project and it's tax write off any way.

Mines the plain Jane 16". I think I got it for around $900.00

Pawn shops, at least they'll haggle at times. Deals go fast as has been mentioned.
I picked up a basket case 20" octagon barreled case-hardened receiver .357 Rossi 92 for a hunnerd bucks last year  with all the bits to reassemble. It's the 4th one down. Couple few years before that I scarfed up a 4" Rossi .357 NIB revolver with a broken firing pin for one fiddy. Rossi fixed it pronto and I had in back in10 days. Both I was Johnny on the spot with timing though. PAX

The pawn shops have some full retail beat up stuff most of the time lol

It depends on the price of the gun to start with. I have a gun in the classifieds that is getting no interest at less than 2/3 of what a new one costs, but it's still 2 grand. Not many people looking at used guns want to drop that much money. I'm good with it. I know what a new one costs, I know what condition this one is in. If it doesn't sell, it doesn't sell.

I see people grousing about how much a used gun lists for on here compared to a new one, but the guns I look at (not plastic, striker fired guns) are quite often priced reasonably. New, quality guns just keep going up in prices. This ain't 1990 any more.

I priced some stuff < $200 of what I have seen in some shops and have the original S&W box still no interest ! I am not giving stuff away period but will give a long-standing member a sweet deal because we are in da club .
