Who are you trying to keep out? Kids or thieves?

I like VAULTEK, have had one in our vehicles for several years. The 10, 20 and VT series are slim yet robust. Create your own pin and backup key lock. Has served me well.
I'll second this opinion. I have one mounted in my house, WiFi, fingerprint, code entry, or key for access. The thing is a beast. It even alerts me whenever it is opened or tampered with immediately. Even when not home. Don't know the exact model number but recall it was a bit over $400.

If you're just trying to keep the gun from kids, a Pelican style case with a padlock will work just fine.

The Apache ones from Harbor Freight are quite nice. There's also a gazillion different ones on Amazon, etc.

The night guard or the 2 gun vault from Hornady are sufficient and moderately priced.

My advice is to stay away from electronics, batteries, biometric, etc., and stick with a mechanical simplex lock. Batteries, electronics, etc., fail...and often at the worst possible time. I also think the reliability of biometrics at this general price point, still has a long way to go.

You can also add pretty good additional layers of safety by installing a good lock or two on your bedroom door, and/or subsequent closet door.

If you've got really snoopy kids, there are also camera systems that you could setup in, say, the closet, that would send an alert to your phone if anyone breaches the closet door.

That's the nice part about the Hornady Safe I listed, they have all of that and have a turnkey as well. They're heavy, thick, tetherable, mountable and if you only want to use the key you can and leave it turned off, electronics use both AC power and battery power.

Vaultek lifepod is a solid choice. Version 1.0 is smaller and was actually picked by the famous YouTube lockpicker guy using a fork to reset the code so.. avoid the smaller one

Version 2.0 is bigger and has an antipicking feature inside the pod. It's a small dial that disables the ability to reset any of the codes. Yes it's battery operated, or you can plug it into a power source using a micro USB cord. It's got a biometric fingerprint reader, it's got 4-8 digit access code ability, and they provide you with two master keys that will open the vaultek if the battery ever dies on you. I kept one in my car for a while, but eventually purchased a steel center console safe that bolts directly to my chassis. So I gave the vaultek to my Dad for his pistol

I have 2 in 2 different rooms. I have a VIKING safe that I bolted to the top of an old cherry 5 drawer upright. That dresser is a heavy one. The other is a MAX SPEED PISTOL SAFE. Both are bio-metric and keyed.
