I know folks have been using paste wax (johnsons or renaissance) for much longer than I have. Others mentioned using Turtle Wax on the barrel. What is the process you use for application? Multiple coats needed? After you have wax applied and buffed off your firearm, do you apply oil/grease to any other parts of the firearm to protect from rust/corrosion? Will commercial oils strip off the wax?

I've always greased the moving parts and oiled everything else and it seemed to work until I got a barrel that seems to absorb all the moisture in the area. Every time I wipe it down my patches come out brown.
