Looking for suggestions for leather holster for a commander model 1911 with a 4.2" barrel, no rail fastback model
My favorite holster to date is the urban carry lock leather. Combo of leather for comfort and kydex for retention. Only thing I don't like is it sits too high in the belt. I had a shoe repair guy move the belt clip and now it sits much lower. So comfortable even with a large gun. Retention is adjustable.

Used to use a 1791 leather one until my gun with holster went flying across the yard when playing with kiddo. Needless to say it is for range duty now.

New are $79

Open box are $49 (#202, not sure of this is right one but I think so)

@metalhead68 , Do you mean OWB?

I have a High Noon belt slider that I like a lot.

I own a number of 1911 Holsters, including Commander size. Kramer is by far the best.

I have owned Urbans lock leather in the past and thoroughly liked their quality. I will check it out, thanks

I'll second this.

I have a Milt Sparks, Commander size. I still use the dual Sparks leather mag holder.
I did the holster, and used it for years. It got pretty soft with age. The Kramer Horsehide holds up better over the long run, in my experience.
If Kramer had a VM2 clone it could be worth trying, but if they haven't done it by now I don't think they will. Had several Kramer's in the rotation over the years after all they are a NW company. My selection of a VM2 is more about design and how it fits for me, not a comparison of leather products or companies.

I ordered a Kramer leather scabbard today, looking forward to trying it out

Like most here I've got a tub full of holsters and the majority of them are Kramer horse hide. Some of them dating back to the '90s when you could by his seconds at the WAC shows for a super good price. I still carry my Kimber compact in one from that era and it functions as good as day one and I've taken many classes with it. Expensive yes, but buy once and never cry.

I have a good grip of Kramer's from Gary at those WAC shows. He had deals for days on Kramer gear.

I have a lot of vintage "Lawrence"leather gear and holsters but nothing for 1911's so I'm looking foreward to trying out this Kamer and I might have to entertain one for my GP100's
