This isn't a political post. I won't be giving any support to any candidate, one way or another. It's also not a foreign policy post. One's stance on war, or more precisely, US involvement in war..isn't at issue here.

This is about the death of Truth. Yes, we've come that far.

I woke this morning and, as usual, glanced at Drudge's homepage. "Trump calls for Cheney's Execution". What?, I thought. Ok..he's finally done it, lost his mind, it's over. So I checked the other news sites. Same thing..firing squad in the face, etc etc. Even a Trump fanboy wouldn't agree to rhetoric like that, I thought. No way to back out of that, I thought. The independents and undecidedes will flood over to Harris...I thought.

So after that two minutes of introspective incredulity, I went to the source of his comments and watched for myself.

They're all lying..the media..and blatently so. Trump said no such thing. He was talking about war hawks who would not, themselves, go to war themselves, and how would they feel if..armed with a rifle, they faced 9 pointing back at them.

Does the media realize that anyone, like me, can quickly fact check them?

Do they even care?

Orwell...as prophetic as he was, could not have foreseen this. At least in his dystopian telling, actual truth was burned as to leave no evidence.

I was waiting for an October surprise. But we just got a November surprise. Congrats media, you just elected your #1 enemy, once the real truth sinks in..not your version.

Reading the news today is like reading Pravda or Isvestia in the 1950's. We used to laugh at the absurdities, and the Russian people learned how to read between the lines as we do now.

When a man says something and he is recorded saying it on video it must all be made up and it's the medis who is lying. I think what bothers me more is that when an individual makes a statement and no one accepts what he says is really what he meant.

You're actually making my point. The MSM isn't reporting what he said, in full and in context, and why he said it. They're reporting what they think he meant. There's a difference. Or, and this is more likely, reporting in such a way as to make viewers think what he meant is what they want them to think..regardless of truth. They're creating news, not publishing it.

Trump says enough foolish, over the top, hyperbolic things..on his own..in full, that resorting to clip editing and false headlines shouldn't be necessary.

And for a free democracy, a free, truthful, fair press is an absolute necessity.

Listen to a tape recorder if you want an exact repeat of what he said. I have made my own mind up based on his words. To me how and what he stated is offensive to me. I am done but I disagree with your position we will soon see what the rest of the country thinks and honestly I don't know which candidate will win.

I just read an article where Jonah Goldberg was walking back his comments along those "execution" lines. I doubt the walk back will get the play his original comments did.

I watch David Muir and ABC News every night following the local news. For the past week, the first fifteen minutes of the thirty-minute program may as well have been disclosed as a free advertisement for Kamala Harris. I'm quitting David Muir and ABC, at least until after the election. Maybe for good.

Exactly! No one can tell me Biden didn't mean Trump supporters and really meant Trump supporter's. C'mon maaaaan.
I agree Biden should not have said that.want to compare the number of times Trump said the equivalent or worse?

By the way Puerto Ricoi isnt a garbage patch and the US isn't a trash can

I think this is the crux of the problem and what really grinds some of our gears. One person can spew a firehose of absurd bullbubblegum and constantly get a pass, but that same side is very easily offended when they get even the least slighted.

Not very even handed, reminds me of middleschool bullies picking on everyone but as soon as they are on the receiving end they cry to mommy. Waaaa waaaa

I really don't think Trump ever referred to his own supporters as garbage. :p

Whoo boy! Trying to compare who lied the most? Man, that would be a lot of work. Sooooooooo many lies from both camps. I'm thinking best to just lay low until this thing is mercifully over. I'm thinking @Nosferatu nailed it in post #11 above.

They lie because people believe them.

Saw a live shot of UAW members looking all shocked today when they were told that the remaining Stellantis jobs are likely headed to Mexico.

Stevie Wonder saw that one coming.

I agree it's now up to the election
.One way or another there will be lot of unhappy people.
