Recently in the M114 thread I mentioned that I have some co-workers looking to leave Oregon because of M114. Some other users replied saying they're leaving, others replied saying they'd leave if they could. My wife and I have tossed around the idea of leaving but its hard when most of our family is located in the PNW. Many different places have come to mind - Alaska, Utah, Wyoming, Iowa, Texas, Missouri, and Idaho. However, all those places have some sort of downside that makes us unsure if they're the right choice for us. So I'm curious.. for those who are leaving or wish they could leave - where will/would you be going? Why there?

Idaho Or Montana would be at the top of the list for me, too damn hot and humid in the southern states. Oh and the occasional twister or hurricane makes the middle part of the country a no go. But we probably wont be going anywhere any time soon

Idaho or Montana. Hoping to hang on until I can retire in about 7-1/2 years. I grew up in East Texas. Too many things that can bite you there and I don't care for the humidity or possible tornados/hurricanes……

If I could...I would go to the "Pan handle" of Idaho...Love the Wallace area.
Why.....
Beautiful country...nice people...and free.....unlike Washington.
Washington is gone....I vote...I write...but ain't no one truly represents me...and my interests.
And I am sick and damn tired of being thought of as dangerous or the problem ...just 'cause I own firearms.

I wouldn't mind having an old creaky shack out in the high desert somewhere far, far away from people and the crap that comes along with em. But I haven't won the lottery yet so I gotta keep going to work. Until I can retire, I have no intention of going anywhere. The fight is what it is.

Ive been a huge proponent of staying and voting, but its wearing on me and only gets worse here and I'm beginning breaking down to consider moving. If they uphold 114 then next it will be more, AR15 registration, thumbhole stocks, pinned mags (bullet buttons), more CHL free zones, Classes just to renew what Ive had my whole life (Wa is already considering this year). Politics in my kids schools despite the worst education in the nation, my taxes funded drugs and needles, and higher crime. Biased judges and DA protecting criminals but conservatives get prosecuted. I used to be able to hang out in social scenes but now if you simply stay silent your marked. The people here are anything but "coexisting".

My father in law was born and raised on the coast, he said he will never come back to oregon. He retired in Wyoming and loves it

My whole life is Oregon. The thought of uprooting and starting over entirely in a strange place hoping for "greener grass", all because of the literal insanity here is incredibly saddening.

Yup.

Escaped Mass for here, over a decade this escape attempt.

Its unlikely we'd move to another State now. Not going to say we wouldn't, just unlikely.

...now if " Greater Idaho" or "State of Jefferson" ever TRULY happens? We'd be in a new, free State by default. That'd be welcome, for sure.

The Greater Idaho movement has been talked about for years and largely dismissed, but ironically and call me a hypocrite but "suddenly" just like that Id vote for it...
Except I live on the westside. :(

Id still need to move.

Yeah, if "Greater Idaho" we'd have to move as well, however it would be a reasonably "easy" move. Compared with a move to current Idaho. Plus career/jobs/salaries would "likely" be similar to current / close enough to not matter "too much".

Where's current Idaho, our current careers / salaries would take a pretty big hit...

Would moving mean a new job too? Cause that's tuff
Yes, Ive been casually searching for a job in Idaho and over the last year have found nothing that pays the same. My wife the same. I'm in the tech industry and Or has a good spot for that as California tech industries have moved north to expand (for better or worse). We would lilterally be starting over.

@Camelfilter same if even just central Oregon area. Years ago I wanted to move to Bend but didn't cause of the lack of tech industry there (now Bend is "blue"...).

Career change? I did it at 41, it's scary as hell

Anchorage or somewhere in the sound, the city it's self is a Sh1thole that rivals Seattle, but get out and away from the big city and your all set, Homer would also be a pretty Ok place to set up, but remember, Alaska is WAY more expensive to live, everything has to be shipped up there and that adds to the cost of living! If I were not married to Colorado, I would move to Alaska in a Heartbeat, somewhere on the water with a nice big boat and landing strip, no roads in or out, except maybe an over grown two track that seldom gets used!
