Remember, one of the main points for pushing M114 was the "new" requirement for background checks. They forgot to tell their clueless supporters that Oregon already requires background checks.
Oregon dems are good at wasting time and tax dollars recreating something that already exists. Taking credit for the work of others.

On a side note. Why does Marge Easley get to have 2 testimonies? Can the rest of us submit more than 1 testimony?
Coincidentally her 2 testimonies are the only "support" votes out of 100+ testimonies.
Edit: 1:30. Looks like 1 of her testimonies has been "processing" for several hours. And still shows a testimony in support. Other testimonies have precessed in minutes. The fact that she can't be bothered to follow the rules should make her testimony invalid.

For what it's worth, groups that sponsored and support M114 have been in the loop since day one and are co-authoring the bills in the background. They knew a week ago that this was happening and will be at the hearing in force.

These so-called "hearings" are nothing more than political theater, designed to present the image that there is a democratic process going on. The outcome is predetermined, and those who get to testify are pre-scripted and orchestrated. Naive members of the community who show up hoping to get a chance to voice their opinions walk away disappointed and disillusioned. Don't ask me how I know.

I agree that they can essentially do what they want, or what their puppet masters require of them. However, we are establishing a record for citizens preferences. I believe the opposition to the ODOT tax is another sign that the people are wanting to be heard and won't be denied. If nothing else, we're providing harassing fire and delaying, or at least reducing the severity, of some of these bills until we have more power.

Although I do completely agree, I look at what happened with drivers licenses for illegal immigrants. The people spoke and said no. No…

The following legislative session, in the wee hours of the morning, democrats did as they pleased and passed legislation to provide illegal immigrants with Oregon Drivers Licenses.

We the people have no real voice in Oregon and won't until we stop mail ordering our political leadership. Vote in person and voter id should take care of the lopsided politics in Oregon.

We have another 24 hours or so to submit written testimony. You can read what others have written here.

Submit testimony here.

You can use the form and write it out there or submit a pdf. It doesn't matter which way you do it, the important thing is to get our voices heard. Everytown is the main driver behind all of these bills and is a powerful enemy with taxpayer funded grants. Don't let them win easily.

I know there are no stupid questions, just stupid people. With that said, I'll go ahead and ask: I'm stationed in Oregon, but registered to vote in NC. Am I able to submit testimony, or will that be thrown out in the same manner as signing a petition?

Thank you for the link to what others have written, it's helped me structure the points in my submission.

I must unfortunately say for clarity to others reading, don't copy and paste from the testimony of others. Its an easy way to get it thrown out, which has happen elsewhere previously. (Remember paraphrasing from back in writing class days? Yeah, do that. No, asking AI to do it for you does not count.)
