Last year I placed this handy watermelon sized rock at a convenient spot to shoot at 440 yards. It is on a log landing surrounded by dirt so that a miss is easy to spot. I had the sidekick (age eleven) spot using a 60x scope. The rock stood out since the sun was illuminating it as well. I was unable to hit it with the M48 Yugo and 24x scope. However both of us nailed it with the iron sighted Bushmaster !

Our first attempt at the rock a few weeks ago was dismal. The kid couldn't find the rock. So he couldn't spot hits. Due to 8X57 recoil I couldn't spot hits/misses.

Since then we went varmint hunting. After about 30 minutes of instruction he became a do it all hunter of hole diggers. I was impressed yesterday when he he was able to operate the 60X scope sans tripod.

My eyes started to go bad 15 years ago. The late evening sun lit up our rock. It is fuzzy when you look down the sights . We shot up 290 rounds of hand loaded .556. We also saw a bobcat on the drive out.
