I Did the same thing when I was old enough to but a pistol. I had 2 felonies expunged from when I was a kid, and asked the Sheriff's department to run my name. Was told to just go and see if I get denied, otherwise do some burnouts in the parking lot and make it cool, and there they'll arrest me and then I'll know for sure. Needles to say the sheriff was a cool old dude! I'm sure if she goes and purchase the gun, she'll have no issue as long as she doesn't check the Felony or DV box. Hell, if just punching a classmate as a kid was a felony, then I'm pretty sure everyone in here should not be able to own firearms!

It was likely a non DV assault 4 misdemeanor, which would not prohibit firearm possession, but if she did any damage, it's possible that it could have been a felony assault 3 or higher, which would prohibit firearm possession.
