75 yr old "Old Shiff" of North Woodstock,N.H. about 1938. If you liked Roosevelt/The New Deal he wouldn't sell you a gun. Had a Roosevelt dime nailed to the floor inside the door and it was a good idea to stomp on it when you entered. When he wasn't selling or not selling guns he sent political diatribes to newspapers.Looks like a great place to hang out and BS! Nice punt gun too.



Here's one of his mailers from'26. The NFA was enacted 8 yrs later.

Old Shiff the Gunman was also written about in Ned Roberts book "The Muzzloading Caplock Rifle".

Most of us only know of Ned Roberts as the "father" of the .257 Roberts Cartridge ...he also liked his muzzleloaders...
