One thing I'm actually impressed with.. is that kids and millennial parents are taking on teaching and learning how to craft things, program 3d printers, create things at home or at makers spaces... at least from what I can see.. granted it's comparatively small numbers of people versus the population but there is a sort of a growing core of people with different skills out there than in the old days.

The problem with buying new is that there arent a lot of new guns with the craftsmanship of the older guns ( not all old guns ) like the pre-64's FN's mausers and such for under a couple a thousand dollars. When I look at the new guns being made today you rarely see deep blueing and quality wood - you see tupperware and cerokote on a mass produced rifle. I am not a fan of todays new firearms. I will continue to buy the older guns.
Yeah.

For ARs though. From what I can see, the quality has gone up from many of the "budget" brands to the point that there's really not as much a different between a $150 barrel and a $300 barrel, other than slightly more consistent QC, the manufacturer name, and sometimes extra features like chrome lining versus no chrome lining... gone are the days when $1000 meant you'll get a superior quality of AR compared to a $750 AR.

Not only has the craftsmanship taken a nose dive for the sake of quantity over quality, I swear the materials used are worse, too... I own several old military/hunting guns from as old as 1894 to as young as 1964 and the metal/wood doesn't seem to get banged up or scratched with near the ease of my brand new made in 2020-2023 rifles. It's like the wood is "softer" while simultaneously less porous so the finish didn't soak in as deeply.

What boggles the mind about classifieds pricing is when people want to sell a brand new, never fired gun they bought a month ago for what they paid for it. Do they not realize I could probably buy that gun for their price or LESS at another FFL and not have to pay an additional transfer fee? It's 100% not worth the effort of scheduling a meet up and dealing with the public just to pay a higher price "at the pump".... well I don't much like getting pumped, sir and or madam

Why is anyone surprised? The dollar is being devalued every day from .gov giving it all away.
It seems like every other day, the white house or some congress baboon is telling us all that they're sending yet another 100 million to anywhere-but-here-ville completely ignoring the proverbial house is on fire and those resources are much more desperately needed locally

And don't forget taxes. Transit Tax, Paid Family Leave Tax, Art Tax, and anything else they can dream up. Salem wants a payroll tax to pay for all the homeless they invited to come live here and ODOT wants to put a toll on the freeways. And property taxes going up every year, so kids can learn about the 48 genders.

It seems they want to put everyone out of business except Big Government, Big Pharma, and Big Amazon.

I think the FS ads here are pretty tame unlike other places. As @arakboss mentioned, if the price is higher than what I think it should be I usually make an offer or ask for trades. Majority of the time it works out.

Why does a person believe that their $90k house being " valued " a half a million is good news??
Unless you plan to sell and move to a location with a lower cost of living like Californians did when they came here. The saying the only time you want to see a person from CA is if you are selling something. I have a freind who sold his house down in Oregon city for @700K and move to Huntsville Alabama for work. He bought a 27 acre property with a nice house on it for 175K. I think he appreciated his house increasing in value before he sold it.

Socialism has a similar structure maybe there is a connection

Goes both ways I posted a sig pistol p220 st for $500 pre biden all the offers I got were in the $400 range. So now if I sell a gun is on gunbroker. To many guys wanting that once in a decade deal.

When I see "stuff" for sale at a price that "looks" to me to be too high? I have to guess the seller does not really want to sell the item, is only willing to sell if someone decides to pay that price, does not know what the item is really worth? Who knows, probably combination of all these.
The ads say "for sale" not "on sale"
