The NRA is a disgrace for an organization. It should be criminal how they prey on people. My father in law has been a faithful lifetime member that donated to them his entire life. He's now 89 and not thinking as clearly as he should. The NRA preys on this and bombards him with cheap trinkets that are insanely priced. They constantly call for more donations. Last week alone he was ready to cut a check for $1500 for some limited edition special lifetime member swag !!! All the crap he receives is complete Chinese made trash !!!! ( blankets, jackets, range bags, knives, ….)
This happens all year long even after they've been asked to stop.
It's sad how the greed has taken over this organization. We now have to screen the incoming mail and throw away piles of solicitation mailers every week.

I believe that there is a lawsuit active now trying to stop the bad apples associated with the LaPierre era from continuing to use the NRA name and contact information in their continuing efforts to rip off the membership. The contacts you keep getting may be from those unauthorized people.

The people pictured on the page before and after the ballot insert are the NRA 2.0 reformers that have all pledged to cleanup the mess. I think there are only 22 if I recall correctly, so I went through the other candidates looking for folks that weren't carry over board members. And there is a lawsuit against the hucksters that manage an NRA charity but don't know any details about it.

I found this link to the NRA 2.0 Rebuilding Trust website. They had good advice last year.
Thanks for posting this. I searched specifically for this information.

It's interesting that the bottom of the candidates page says you are eligible to vote if you buy your membership before February 27, 2026. I thought you had to be a Life Member or an Annual Member for five consecutive years to be eligible to vote. I wonder if they really did away with that five year requirement. The letter from EVP Doug Hamlin included with the ballot in my magazine seems to indicate otherwise.

What I am looking for is a list of candidates to vote for to continue the attempt at turning the organization around.
Jumping in late in the game. Ballots must be received BEFORE March 29. If you still want to vote you should probably get your ballot in today or no later than Monday since it has to travel to Virginia.

I'm posting the list of the best reform-minded candidates I can find. There's 15 of them plus one write-in, who is highly recommended by Jeff Knox (one of the original reformers). I based these selections on recommendations from various sources of reform-minded persons, blogges, and writers who I trust to be in-the-know.

In no particular order:

- Amanda Suffecool

- Charles T. Hiltunen

- Richard Todd Figard

- Robert Beckman

- Todd Vandermyde

- Charles Brown

- Huey Laugesen

- Jacqueline Janes

- David Raney

- Mark Vaughan

- Jerry Kraus

- James W. Porter

- Bruce Widener

- Randy Luth

- James D'Cruz

Write-in on the back:

- Charles Rowe, Wadsworth, OH

NOTE: Under no circumstances should you vote for ANY of the "Strong NRA" candidates. These are the ones recommended by the "old guard", aka Wayne LaPierre lackeys. None of these six listed candidates deserve your vote.
