Agree with what's been said, humidity is your enemy. Temperatures have to be crazy high to cause much change in the chemistry of the powder.

When it comes to hygrometers, that's something I know a little about. As a cigar collector, monitoring humidity is something I pay very close attention to. Been keeping and maintaining nice cigars for a couple decades. Completely agree with ilikegunspdx, cheap hygros are junk and easy to find, lol. One that I have multiples of is this one from Govee:


They are very accurate and talk Bluetooth to your phone over a surprising range. I've got three in my big cigar cabinet, one in a desktop humidor. If you go the hygro route, I 'salt test' all of mine when new, and when the batteries are replaced. It's a very simple procedure that gets you a very accurate check on your hygros calibration.
