Times front page signals next gun rights attack: State preemption

Today's Seattle Times front page reveals, perhaps unintentionally, where the next attack on Washington State gun rights will likely be focused: State preemption, the law passed first in 1983 and reinforced in 1985 that places all regulation of firearms under the authority of the state legislature.

That would be a natural for Seattle to want to change

They've wanted to destroy preemption for years. Ban guns in certain areas, require special licenses, all kinds of stuff that a "city-state" might wish to impose.

I hope they ban dirty bombs within city limits, because THAT will surely keep any terrorist from setting one off there, yes?

Cities seem to ignore the state preemption ruling (https://www.nraila.org/articles/201...court-puts-an-end-to-gun-ban-in-seattle-parks). Shoreline still has plenty of city parks that post signs banning firearms. Someone (SAF) should have a chat with the city attorney.
