Hello all, new the forum! I have a few remedial questions right off the bat -- and I did do a quick search -- so I hope you'll go easy on me.

I've never purchased a gun, let alone a handgun, in Washington state. I have a UT CPL and am a WA resident now, but have conflicting information from dealers now about whether or not my UT CPL does me any good here as far as background check and waiting period. What's the real scoop on that?

I was thinking about a private party purchase for a LCP to save the $30 in sales tax... any good reason to go through a dealer instead in WA?

    Thanks for your input!

It looks like you need a WA permit if you're a resident. There's some threads regarding this but I dug up this law which seems relevant.

Private party sales are a good way to save money. I like them.

Thanks for the welcome and info. I interpret that as as saying I need a WA permit even to carry if I'm a WA resident... I'll have to look into that to be sure I'm legal. Thanks!
