New to the site. What should I be looking for in AR-15 ?

Iam looking to learn about what I should be looking for in an AR. I know now is a bad time to to get a quality gun at a good price but I can wait. Any suggestions on what I should be looking for and what I should stay away from?

wait at least 6 months, if you buy one now you will over pay. The hype will die down, maybe not to prior prices but don't pay todays prices

What you want in a rifle really depends on what you plan to do with it (plinking, 3 gun, home defense). I would suggest buying a box stock rifle and run it like it is for awhile learn the rifle and iron sights. After you've owned it awhile you can better judge what you want to do with it and how you want it set up.

I would also take nick's advice and not buy now unless you find a good deal but those are few and far between with all the gun capitalist's coming out of the wood work.
