Received the $26ish end piece today and it looks like the little dogs that go in the telescopic brace slots of the receiver need to be cut down a bit to fit. I'll mess with it later and measure but for right now that's the main difference that jumps out at me other than have to remove the little buffer in the replacement end piece. Also I noticed that the holes are metal for the retaining pin vs on original it's plastic. Almost identical other than that. Also two holes are drilled in replacement piece. Original has spot for those two holes but they are not drilled. Will post more after done.

Here is brace installed. Should make for some fun shooting. Suggest using original end piece not hkparts one because dogs need to have material removed and hole is in slightly different spot. Pic are the hkparts end piece which I wanted to use since I had it.

A quick note re adding pic rail piece. Suggest using largest size pic rail piece that will fit without going over ends of end piece. This gives extra room to attach a quick detach sling mount for sling. Here is pick of a qd mount I had lying around l, but the BCM qd mount would be better I think cuz takes less room.

Also gd sling mount would work for the hook on a shoulder holster (probably faster to press qd mount button to release gun than to "unhook" the gun from traditional hk mp5 shoulder holster I would guess but have not tried it).

Cheapo utg qd sling mount i had lying around:

Nicer BCM qd sling mount.

Here is inexpensive shoulder holster example FYI. The qd sling mount loop could be used to hook it to the holster instead of the little fabric plus metal loop piece (hard to see in photo) that comes with the holster. So to release gun you would press sling mount button and unsnap the fabric loop around the frame. Hard to explain in words. It's just for fun not for security detail. :p

Blue circle is the snap u release with sliding motion as u raise the gun. Red circle is the hook it hangs on. Could remove that little fabric piece that attaches to gun completely and just attach qd sling loop to hook or shoulder holster strap. Then to release just press gd button. Regular one piece sling is probably easier for range use though I would guess.

While I think of it I forgot to mention to use low profile nuts for the pic rail. Low profile means end peice can sit flush to the bolt so no issues. If you have big nuts for the bolts the end piece won't go on all the way. For example these at sportsman's warehouse can be usedu may have to flatten the 3 little prongs or shave them down a bit.

FYI cddn has 25 round mags for $30 as of this morning. These things have been impossible to find in stock.

FYI out of stock now. Palmetto primary arms had them for a brief moment also ($30 there also). More batches will be coming though I'm sure just like 15-22 mags were so hard to find in last year or so but now u see them around.

Did your pistol come with the worthless 10rd mag?
Got it home was bummed to see that.
Is there a way to turn it into a 25rd that your aware of ? Most the info out there is about the older models

Darn that sucks. Mine was 25 rounder fwiw. I'm not familiar with converting to 25 round. Maybe check for a plug/block/stopper on the chance that it isn't a completely different spring etc. between the two. Just a guess but maybe the new one and old one are the same (most of the rest of the gun seems to be the same) so conversion procedure for old one may work on the new one?

This video totally cracks me up. Mp5 22lr full auto at what seems like maybe 1800 rpm?

Shorter version:
FYI I put the above video into a video editor to calculate RPM just for fun. The 2nd burst is 11 shots in .274 seconds which equals 2408 rpm. Holy smokes that's fast!

New picatinny rail end piece here for $65:

Or different end piece with folding adapter and tailhook brace for $185:

Installed a claw mount and red dot today. Cost of claw mount $13ish here

Cost of red dot was $11.90 using this code (my guess is it was a one day code).

Claw mount is really tight fit u have to push it down to snap into place. Seems to be great for the $.

The custom smith manufacturing end piece came in today. It's a good fit. I was pleased that qd sling attachment is made of metal. Rest of it is regular 3D printed a10 type rigid plastic material. Seems to be sturdy enough to hold brace.

A few pics. Note that the rust color on qd mount is from me spraying with chlorine/water mix, not from manufacturer.

Adding a brief note to say that after some range time the custom smith end piece has a tiny wobble side to side. It is a tiny wobble and for this type of gun most people probably won't care I would think.

I think the wobble can be fixed with tiny piece of gorilla tape or whatever on inside of end piece to make a "shim". Just want to mention that it's not "perfect" FYI. Both the "add ur own pic rail" and custom smith end piece work. Custom smith looks a bit more professional and if qd sling attachment is important to you it's probably the best way to go unless u want to shell out for the BCM picatinny rail qd mount.

One other note is that if u install ur own pic rail then the size of the rail can be bigger than the more limited size of the custom smith end piece. That allows u to move the brace much farther up or down if u were so inclined. Fwiw if I put the brace shown on the very top of the custom smith end piece I am able to see the red dot no problem. Can not see it if brace is mounted lower down. Not sure if it would be the same for a micro red dot though which sits closer to the rail. If anybody is really worried about that let me know and I can install micro red dot to check (who knows, maybe can't see micro red dot red dot anyway due to height of rear drum sight?).

Just listing stuff as I find it out in case anyone may be interested. Cheers!

Just an FYI/update. For anyone looking to beef up the grip the hogue handall sleeve # 17110 fits well and definitely helps. I would prefer it was a bit thicker though. I might trying sticking a couple pieces of tape underneath to thicken it up some. Cost is around $10-$14 depending on retailer. Cheers!
