Need tips for restoring and fixing a first year production Winchester 1907.

This is a Winchester 1907 semi auto rifle in .351 winchester according to Winchesters literature this was made in 1907 in the first year of production. The forend is cracked and there is some splintering on the stock as far as the finish it is remarkably nice considering its over a 100 years old so I plan to leave it be. I am hoping to just get the updated forend which was thicker than the original and less prone to cracking and maybe a new stock I don't mind finishing the stock does anyone have any tips on other things I should do?

May look into having the forearm stabilized. That said restoration would ruin it for me. Looks great as is. :s0155:

I plan on hunting with it. The fore end is screwed up pretty bad. I plan on keeping all the original furniture but I do plan on using it so getting it safe and usable is a priority.
